Unique silver birch roundel

Unique silver birch roundel created through a stained glass approach to kintsugi, the japanese art of making something incredibly beautiful out of something broken.

This roundel fell off my bench and smashed into a number of smaller pieces.

Rather than refuse the pieces back together which would have resulted in los of texture it felt entirely fitting to set the pieces into lead to make a hanging “window” roundel thus marrying together 2 of the techniques I work with on a daily basis.

Rather than making a stand, I leaded the pieces together and continued the outer lead to make an open circle creating the stained glass window but keeping the freeform of the treetops.
